Miscellaneous Information
Zenon was born on 19 November 1921 at St. Leon Le Grand , Quebec. His father, who was deceased by the time of Zenon's enlistment, was born in Montreal and worked as an Insurance Agent. His mother was born at St. Louis de Gonzague, Quebec. He had five living brothers aged between 24 and 9 years of age and two sisters Gabriel and Rachel, both shown as aged nineteen years. Three other siblings had sadly died: Lionel in 1930, Georgette in 1932 and Alphonse in 1934. The schools he went to were Ecole Frontenac, Montreal 1927-1937 and then Ecolé Le Plateau also in Montreal, 1937-1939. The sports he took part in were swimming, fishing, hunting and tennis. He could also drive a car and enjoyed shooting as a hobby. Between 1939 -1942 Zenon carried out general work in Montreal and then enlisted as a day labourer for Michael and Richtner in Montreal. |
After enlisting on 17 August 1942 and early training, Zenon was posted to the U.K. and embarked from Canada on 23 June. 1943. He then went on to 3 PRC. 2 July 1943, 23 OTU 17 August 1943, 1664 CU 14 November 1943 and 424 Squadron on 18 December 1943. Sadly, Zenon then lost his life on 25 April 1944. |
